PROTOTYP/MUSTER: PROTOTYPE/SAMPLE
About the EXHIBITION:
PROTOTYP/MUSTER
September 12–October 25, 2025
world in a room - projektraum für fotografie, Berlin, Germany
The solo exhibition premieres new photographic works by Ellen Rothenberg with images from Chicago, Berlin and Marseille. The exhibition tracks the accelerating shift between analog and digital technologies on systems of connection and communication operating in public and private spheres. This slippery, ever-changing technological transition is reflected in the photographic image sequences and the techniques of production and reproduction. Fragments of landscape and a special effects green-screen production rig are juxtaposed with remnants of urban infrastructure; abandoned pay phones alternate with a movement-triggered LED projection. These works detail our attachment to anachronistic forms of daily exchange and the anxious allure of future-facing possibilities.
